Chemo 9

Since we didn't go in for chemo on our normal Tues, we had to go on Weds. The hospital was closed on Monday, no chemo on Tues, so Weds was crazy busy. We had to share a room with a guy who is just embarking on colon cancer treatment and they were giving him his 2nd test dose - something we did not do because of our rush timing for our trial. He had a later stage colon cancer and the trial drug they are giving him causes acne. He was not a happy man. His wife was there and she reminded me of Janice from Friends in her appearance and voice. You can imagine how small that room seemed.

Scott's neuro issues seemed to lessen with the lower dosage of chemo so they kept it at 30% less than original. His bp was pretty good. Dr Marshall was out of town so we met with his assistant Amy. She was very nice. I had not met her before. Scott is doing pretty well overall.

He seems to be much more fatigued and tired. Chemo is cumulative so this is expected but he does seem to be sleeping a lot more this go around. His hair is thinning a little and he tires easily. He doesn't seem to be eating very much lately either. He has skipped dinner a few times this week in favor of going to bed.

The kids are busy as usual. Nate caught some stomach bug this weekend and was sent home from school on Friday barfing. He has never thrown up before so he had no idea what to do. Poor guy. He ended up throwing up 4x but by Sat late afternoon he felt better although he had little appetite Friday and Saturday. My friend Kristy was kind enough to take Nate on Sunday to play with his friend Matthew. Melissa took Hannah on Saturday for lunch and playtime on Saturday.

I did manage to fit in a great workout on Sunday morning. I dropped the kids off at Hebrew school at 9a and went to the gym until 1045a. Then I picked them up at 11 while Scott got some alone (read sleeping) time. I also preppped some chili to cook in the slow cooker so dinner was handled.

On Sunday afternoon, Hannah had her Brownie vesting ceremony. The troop moms made it very special with treats and champagne glasses filled with apple cider. They earned 4 patches. It was a very cute ceremony. The troop is very small but very manageable and of course Maya and Hannah are in it together.

After getting the kids settled in bed last night, I prepped for Monday's dinner (grilled chicken with mango salsa) and was in bed by 9a - ready to do my bootcamp at 545a!

Life just never stops..
