We took a short trip to Williamsburg, VA this weekend for some sun, fun and good friends. We left Friday Morning around 930a - we had planned to leave around 8a but you know how that goes. We stopped to get lunch in WB around noon and then headed to Water Country USA. The kids had a blast. Hannah was so great and adventurous, going on a bunch of water slides with Scotty. Nate - not so much. I stayed with him in the shallower pools. They were cool though and had pint sized water slides and cool things to play on. We left the water park around 6p. We all had had enough. We went back to the hotel to get changed and headed off to Sal's Italian Restaurant. This is the restaurant that the gang went to last time we went to Great Wolf Lodge. If you remember, I was unable to go due to a "ahem" illness. It was as good as they said it was. We headed back to the Hotel and all of us were asleep pretty soon after.
Saturday, we got up early, had breakfast and then went back to the hotel to visit with the horses that were across the street. They had 3 horses - one white, one black and this chesnut one. This one in the pic was the nicest. Both Nate and Hannah were a bit apprehensive about feeding the horses grass right to their mouths. But they did pet them. It was really cool to see them right outside our hotel. After visiting with the horses, we headed to Busch Gardens to meet up with a good friend Nancy Perkins and her daughers Kailey and Sydney. Syd went to AOL daycare with Hannah and they have remained friends. Hannah misses her a ton and it showed. We had a blast. Busch Gardens really is a well laid out theme park. They have adult rides interspersed with kiddie ones. So everyone had something to do in one area instead of having to go to a kids area. Scott and Kaylie went on a lot of rides together since I am not a big fan of roller coasters. We had a great time. The weather wasn't too bad and the kids were so well behaved! What a difference that makes.
They also had a water area and Syd, HB and Nate all got soaked since my kids didn't bring their suits. Around 6p, we decided to head out of the park.
Hannah went home with Nancy and gang to spend the night and Scotty, Nate and I headed back to the hotel to figure out our plans for the evening. We decided to go to a famous BBQ place called Pierce's. Although Scott said the ribs were good, he said that he has indeed had better! I personally enjoyed BBQ Grilled Chicken sandwich.
Sunday, we got up, headed for breakfast and then headed up towards Richmond to pick up the Bea. We got there and stayed for a bit, visiting with Nancy, Malcolm, Syd, and Emma. We miss them terribly and asked them to move back to NOVA. They declined. We got back home around 2p, plenty of time to carry out our Sunday routine.
Oh, the kids had lots of ice cream on our mini-vacation! I mean what is a trip of any kind without ice cream??!! The service all over WB was great. The people of that town are truly the nicest people we have encountered.
