CNN - list of the victims. It's even more sobering a memory when you look at all the people who lost their life on 9/11. 6 people from my hometown, Cranford, NJ died.
National 911memorial - First hand accounts, videos, memories.
We should never forget this event - what it meant to each of us personally, how it scared us, how it screwed with our minds, what it made us appreciate - How it changed everything.
Scotty and I were driving to Perfectly female that morning to get our first glimpse of who is now Hannah Bea in my belly via sonogram. We left that office feeling so happy and overwhelmed. We got into our car and heard about a plane crashing into the WTC. We went back home and I got into my car to head to work.
I got to work and saw the mad rush of cars leaving the lot. I had gone into the actual parking lot only to find myself blocked in by people leaving. I insistently made a U-turn and headed home full of fear, terror, and confusion. What the hell was going on? I remember how surreal it all was to me.
I got home and found Scott watching the news. Peter Jennings was on and talking about it and then the rest is really a blur. WTC, the Pentagon, PA -- all the stories, the families searching for their family members, the debris -- the sheer shock of it all. What was going on, what was next, what should we do? The phone lines were bogged down - I was trying to call my family. They were fine. I talked to my mom - she was supposed to to go to the WTC this week. She had friends and work colleagues at the Port Authority.
I will never forget the feelings that arose - indescribable.
