Mount Vernon

We had a great day yesterday. The weather was perfect and we headed to one of our many historic sites in the great commonwealth of Virginia -Mount Vernon. I have not been there in like 10 years and they have added so much - a visitor's center and museum. What a great place to take the kids. Lots of expansive land for them to run around in, beautiful scenery, history at its finest = Family spending quality time together. It can not get any better than that!

Hannah had missed her 2nd grade class trip to Mt Vernon on Friday, so we decided to make it up to her and bonus: it was Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts get in FREE! It was kismet.

Nate was so cute - while viewing George Washington's tomb, the sign says Quiet. So he was shushing me before I even got up to the spot and then the guide was talking and he was shushing them. He took that quite seriously.

They also had a very nice kids play area with a Mt. Vernon doll house and some other historic things for the kids to play with. It is such a nice place to take family and friends when they visit.

It was so great to feel like a normal family again. Scott was able to come and we had no strollers. Our lives are getting back to what I think it should be - a happy, blessed family. Schmultzy, but true.
